There are two airports that service the Northern Rivers area of New South Wales. The Byron Bay Gateway Airport, is located at Ballina, which is around 30 minutes south of Byron Bay.

The Gold Coast Airport is located 60 minutes to the north at Coolangatta, near the New South Wales/Queensland border.

Passenger airlines servicing the Ballina/Byron Bay airport include Virgin Blue and Jetstar.
